Female Movie Stars And How They Manage To Succeed In A Very Competitive Industry

By Xavier Pignon

Most actresses dream of becoming famous female movie stars but few of them are able to achieve that goal.It is very difficult to compete with the large number of other women, who flock to Hollywood for trying to bag the few amount of meaty roles that can actually make them a big star.

Many famous female movie stars had contacts within the Hollywood elite. The actresses born in the families, which have contacts in the show-biz industry get an early edge with the help of influence and better understanding of how the movie business works. Some examples of this would be Drew Barrymore, Jane Fonda, Lisa Minnelli, and Angelina Jolie. These actresses gained much publicity and the exposure and networks of their families, aided more to their journey of becoming major stars, than their acting abilities.

Other actresses became famous female movie stars because of some quality that set them apart from the rest.Meryl Streep, Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis are a few among the many others who reached the stature of famous movie stars owing to their exceptional acting talents.

Another problem that these famous female movie stars face is the mode in which they transition from a particular role of a teenager to a middle-aged wife and even a grandmother, depending on their real life age and movie script requirementsAt times, the audience stereotypes an actress with a particular genre of role and this can kill the career of the movie star. This killed the careers of some of Hollywood's greatest stars, most notably that of Shirley Temple whose career quickly died in her early twenties because fans didn't want her to grow out of her sweet little darling character.

Some famous female actresses manage to overcome aging and continue very successfully as in the case of Brooke Shields, Barbara Stanwyck and many others. The best way for major stars to overcome this seems to be by moving on to the next type of role before age makes the transition mandatory. For example, the actress can star as a teenage love, from 15, or even earlier and then slowly advance to more mature and motherly roles by the time she reaches 35. From there on, she can slowly pick up more elderly roles till she reaches 50 or so, to ensure that the audience see her manifest in the new age group and hence improve the life of her movie career.

The boom in the cable and satellite television has provided an immense opportunity to the actors to not only have more options, but a longer super-star life. The ever growing number of channels has created many openings for new and upcoming actresses to enter show business. The desire on the part of producers to sign on actresses with names that are known to the viewers has also greatly multiplied the odds that a once famous female movie star can continue her career as a famous television star. The ever growing popularity of internet TV and the ability to stream internet video to your big screen television set will most likely continue to multiply those opportunities in the future! - 40726
